2024 wine, brew & k9 Crew

May 11, 2024 | 1pm-5pm

Underwood Family Farms

3370 Sunset Valley Rd, Moorpark, CA 93021

Join the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit at Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark for an afternoon of great family fun. The kids can bounce around in the jumpers, tour the farm and have as much Mister Softee’s as they can stomach. Adults, while the kids are busy tiring themselves out, you can enjoy some local wine and brews. We will have Air Pizza, from Ojai, firing up some of their most popular pies to satisfy everyone’s hunger.  Visit the raffle tent to win some unique prizes and baskets. Remember the more tickets you use the better your chances are to win. Stop by the merch tent to pick up some of our newest and latest items.  All proceeds from the event go directly to the funding of the K9 Unit for the purchase of new police dogs, specialized equipment, food, veterinary and dental costs. Finally, we will have a demonstration to show you the amazing abilities of our K9 partners. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy an afternoon on the farm hanging with the K9 Crew…..See you there!

Funded solely by private donations and fundraisers, our K-9s follow rigorous training steps in order to develop the skills necessary to protect themselves, their handlers and our community.

Donate

All of the funds raised on behalf of the K-9 Unit go directly toward the development and support of our K-9 teams. Here is how your donations help:

  • Our K-9s attend training schools to ensure they are able to work safely and effectively in a variety of scenarios and circumstances. This allows them to develop skills that consistently prove invaluable to our officers’ efforts, but it does require a significant financial investment. The purchase of a dog and initial Patrol and Detection Class is between $18,000-$20,000. Additional classes/courses/confrences after the K9 Team graduates from Patrol and Detection class can range in cost from $500-$4,000.

  • Just like human officers, our K-9s rely on protective gear to keep them safe. The money we raise allows us to purchase a variety of important equipment for our K-9s, including ballistic vests, paw protection, cooling equipment and lifting harnesses.

  • We are committed to providing high-quality care for our K-9s throughout their careers and retirement. This means ensuring that they have the food, equipment, veterinary care and ongoing training they need to lead happy, healthy lives. For each K-9, this requires an investment of approximately $4,000 per year.
